February Homeschool Group Tour

Our February Homeschool Group Tour was our first ‘official’ educational tour and we had such a blast. It was so fulfilling for us to have everything come together and finally be able to share everything God has blessed us with. Dave and I talked about wanting to offer things like this all the way back in 2018 when this place was literally nothing but a vacant shack on a swamp.

Vacant shack on a swamp. :) December 2019

We started out in the chicken coop and shared a bit about chicken care, anatomy, behavior and diet. We then went in to the garden area to meet and pet some ducks and shared about some of the differences and requirements of ducks as opposed to chickens.

Everyone’s favorite part was probably inside (and out of the cold!) where we drank hot cocoa and held some of our new baby chicks.

Kids were sent home with a packet of info and worksheets along with our coloring contest! We already got a few entries and we’re so excited to see the rest. We’ll be drawing a winner in March and with parental consent, the lucky boy or girl will win a free duckling or chick!

Our March Open Farm Tour is now SOLD OUT, thank you!

We’ll be offering tours such as this periodically to accommodate anyone and everyone who is curious about starting their own little homestead, wants to learn about ducks or chickens, or just wants to meet some fellow like-minded friends. In exchange, we will be requesting a small love donation or barter for our time ($10 monetary donation, a plant or flower, or whatever you’d like to share.) Watch for the next one coming in April!

If you already have a larger group ready to rock and would like to schedule a private tour, we’d be happy to add a date for you. Just contact us!

Everyone was invited to choose and take home one of our beautiful feathers as a memento.

We hope that every single one of our groups is infused with the love and reverence that we hold for nature and our animals. We want to leave kids and adults alike with a sense of curiosity, awareness and empowerment to be responsible stewards of the natural world around them.

We had such and great time! You and your husband where so very patient and informative. We loved your educational worksheet and the hot chocolate was a wonderful touch. We really appreciated everything that you did for us. We hope to be able to visit your place again.
